CD Release Party

The CD Release Party was everything I could hope for!  Thanks goes out to all of you who have supported me through the years.  Also special thanks goes to Tim Cook, John Magnie, Steve Amedee, Micah Lundy and especially Bob Tyler and Celeste Krenz for a wonderful year of music and friendship.     CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS!!!

The Subdudes at the Bluebird Theater

The last show of the Subdudes reunion tour was at the Bluebird.  The guys were awesome!

Tommy Malone played some ripping guitar licks.  The band started with the three original dudes and then introduced Tim Cook as the writer of Sarita - Tim jumped on stage with the others to play bass and sing those low vocals.

Steve with his signature tambourine wack - he also played electric mandolin.

John Magnie with his signature accordian.

Did you miss the show, you can catch John, Steve and Tim at the CD Release Party!!!

A Nice Hike

I was able to get away for a little while.  I went on a nice hike on a gorgeous spring Colorado day.

There was some melting snow - and I fell on my @#$! - but it was nice to get out and relax.

Restoring Instruments

You can look at last months page and see photos of me stripping paint and rust off of this National Guitar.  Now it's at the Olde Town Pickin' Parlor in Arvada and Edward has removed the old fingerboard and has a nice new ebony fretboard ready to go.

For all of you musicians and sound techies out there...  I have been trying every acoustic pickup and acoustic amplifier for years...  Some instruments, such as the waldzither, with its low and skinny bridge and lute soundhole -  I haven't found anything to even try on it!

I haven't got the amplification nailed down yet, but I have found my acoustic pickups.  After trying a couple McIntyre feathers in combination with my magnetic pickups or piezo pickups on the resonator and mandolin instruments - I gave David a call and talk to him for about an hour and a half about my instruments and experiments.  I ordered 4 pickups.  I had one installed on my dobro mandolin, the waldzither and the Weissenborn in the first evening - and I did it myself!  They sound great - I've never heard a better sounding amplified Weissenborn.  Nick Forster put one on his - now I know why.  I've since called David back to let him know I totally endorse these pickups and ordered another batch of them to continue with the experiments!!!   I'll keep you posted and email me if you want to chat about acoustic amps and pickups.
