In the Studio...

The new CD is underway.  The first session featured some great bluegrass players on two songs:

Rob Anderlik on Dobro

Ross Martin on Guitar

Ernie Martinez on Banjo

Gene Libbea on Upright Bass

My great friend and player, Rob Anderlik, flew in from Chicago and it's great to have him on my recordings.

In the next two sessions, I asked Charlie Provenza to play some blues mandolin on a song.  John Magnie, Steve Amedee and Rich Moore then helped me finish another five songs.

Travels

I spent the last half of 2003 in Kansas City, but also managed to travel to Montana/Wyoming, Birmingham, Chicago, Nashville and Baltimore.

I traveled to Montana for my Birthday ...Thanks to Pat and her sister's family for their hospitality.  I also want to thank everyone at Weber Mandolins for a great tour of the factory.

September brought some wonderful fall colors to Colorado and I found a cabin near Estes Park where we could see the Aspen turn gold and watch the Elk in rut...
My friend, Bob, from Kansas City joined us for a weekend in the mountains.
Then I joined Bob for a weekend in the Ozarks where the leaves were also gorgeous.

I spent quite a few months in Kansas City and would like to thank everyone at Fortis, Reverse, Jardines and BB's Lawnside BBQ.  Also a special thanks to musicians Bill Dye, John Paul and the Flying Circus, Mama Ray and Danielle Schnebelen for letting me sit in...

During the holidays I hooked up with my friend, Andy, who got me playing my first Led Zeppelin songs in 8th grade.  We also played in rock and blues bands over the years and it was great to see him.  We jammed just like old times.
I also flew to Baltimore for the holidays and hung out with some more friends from Jr. High - Theresa and Bob.
I spent the New Years wandering around our Nation's Capitol.

On New Year's Eve, I went down to the Funk Box, for the Subdudes party.  They had just finished recording their new CD in California.  I finally got to meet Tommy - vocals and slide guitar extraordinaire.

Back to Colorado...

Well, I made it back to Colorado and got to play with Celeste at a house concert in Boulder.  It was also a great to see some of those who joined us on our RiverJamm Canoe trip.  We're planning on a camping trip this year - so stay tuned.

John, Steve and Tim will be helping me finish the remaining songs and backup vocals on my CD.  Hopefully, we can find a way to get Celeste on their as well.
