Keb Mo Concert

Keb Mo put on a great concert at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

It was a wonderful night and I walked around the koi ponds to get some more design ideas.

Travels to Europe
Amsterdam

Maybe you've seen some Mongolian throat singers in Amsterdam yourself; or the Tuva singer that travels with Bela Fleck; or on a discovery channel.  I was suprised to catch them outside the Rijksmuseum.

Watching them from a short distance is amazing!!!  You don't know where all the strange flute-like sounds are coming from, but you eventually can watch their mouths move slightly resonating these amazing overtones.

I wanted one of these horsehead fiddles pretty bad after this meeting.

I spent an afternoon wandering in the museums and parks of Amsterdam.

Leiden, Nederlands

I decided to head back to my hosts in the wonderful town of Leiden.  A town of canals, windmills and bicycles.

My friend, Maarten, and his family welcomed me into their home and I thank them for their hospitality.

Maarten will be visiting in July and I hope to take him to Colorado's Nederland for a nice hike.

Back to Brussels, Belgium
You my recall my trip to Brussels in October.  This trip was back with old friends and made some new ones.

There was a world music festival going on right in the Grand Place Square.

Around the corner from the square, there was big crowd for a street performer - another Chinese musician belting out some American music.  I was quite impressed and talked to him for a while - so long that I forgot to take the CD I paid for!  Dude contact me - I want the CD...
What can I say...  The have a Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels.  It's what I'd like my house to look like someday.  If the could put a level in there for me and my instruments, and maybe a studio - I'd be pretty set.
I was a bit disappointed to go to Belgium restaurants only to find out that Mussels are out of season!  I did eventually find a couple restaurants where I could have my bucket of moules and a couple Leffe Bruns.
My last night was a wonderful evening with new friends.  Ulrike graciously invited me into her home with her family.  Franck, who you've seen in photos over the past year also joined us with his wife and new baby.  Ulrike's son, David, made me tiramasu.

I would return to perform there again anyday!

So thanks again to my wonderful hosts in Europe...  Another trip I will not forget.

Now I just need to write some more songs about the trip...
