February 27th - Fat Tuesday

What a wild night!  The bar owners, staff and crowd made the night an especially fun night for Dysfunction Junction.  In the first set,  a girl jumped on stage, gave me some beads and a kiss and danced.  Call me easy, but it made me feel like a rock star all night!  Click to the Dysfuction Junction page to see more of the night.

February 25th

Sunday Night - Songwriter Workshop at Tulagi's in Boulder.  Good friends and good music.

We performed 6 rounds of songs - more than I had anticipated.  I was anti-regular 6-string guitar guy and brought my mandolin, Hawaiian guitar and tenor guitar.

St. Mary's Glacier, Colorado

We took a short hike on snowshoes.  It was a little windy at parts, but overall a great time and a sport I hope to do more often.

I brought my 9 string German Waldzither.

PeaceJam with Zebra Junction

The long-awaited event had arrived.  Micah had been preparing with the latest in recording sampling technology.  Here he is tweaking his Playskool cassette recorder.

The day was filled with reporters and T.V. cameras - all anticipating Zebra Junction's performance with their newest member, Richard Castaldo.  I went to check out the events until my contact tore and fell out and I couldn't really see very well.  Anyway, the guys did a great job and it will be televised in the summer.  You can read up on the story in the Rocky Mountain News.

Thursday I went with Thomas Love, a fellow Weissenborn owner/player, to see Kelly Joe Phelps play at the Boulder Theater.  He is one incredible musician.

Friday night off?  I went down to the Falling Rock for MardiGras activities and was out dancing at Synergy until 4:30 a.m.

This week I've continued to promote the Songwriter Showcase and Cabin Retreat events.  I've also managed to continue my stir-frying regimen and cooked for a friend.  Oh and Mary helped me do my taxes...  Thanks Mary.

It is going to be a very busy week with our Fat Tuesday gig in Boulder, Friday night gig at the Falling Rock the Wine Tasting, Songwriter Showcase and Hawaiian Luau on Saturday.

February 19th

Friday night I had a wonderful evening.  Got dressed up for dinner and Opera Colorado's performance of Puccini's Turandot.  Missed a gig - sorry guys...

I am very excited and spreading the word about the Musician's Cabin Retreat.  I also began playing with my studio software and recorded a few songs - the songs and the equipment need a lot of work!

I've also been caring for my new family members - my plants.  They help make the house a little closer to Hawaiian paradise.  I named the Bird of Paradise, Haleakala.

I'm hoping to catch Kelly Joe Phelps in Boulder as well as go back to the Rockies for some snowshoeing and photography this weekend.

Valentine's Day

I sneakily got all my rose deliveries out and spent the evening with friends.  I guess if I'm aspiring to be the struggling musician, I should learn how to party like a rockstar - so we partied like rockstars all night.  Someone brought maddog to the party and I partook in the spirits.  The evening ended with dancing at the Funky Buddha.  The morning after I decided that "I don't want to work - I just want to bang on the drum all day" with my new djembe.

I have continued planning my CD project as well as support projects of my fellow musician friends.  As a result, you can go to my events page for some exciting happenings for March.

I also broke in the new digital camera and drove up to Rocky Mountains.  I spoke to the ranger at the visitors center and the gift shop about performing there and distributing my CDs.

February 3rd

January quickly became a busy month.  I decided to learn MS Frontpage and put up this website.  I also have been getting organized about what the new millenium will hold for me and my music.

I have been planning for my first full-length CD.  I have been doing research on home studio recording and have purchased the basic gear for a home recording.

Dysfunction Junction has been busy.  We played our two nights at Dick's Last Resort and I stretched out on electric guitar - something I rarely do since I have focused on acoustic stringed instruments.  Within days of receiving my Weissenborn Hawaiian guitar, I was onstage solo playing rock and blues with it.

This weekend I hope to get up to the Rockies, it's been a month since I went to Yellowstone, and I need some inspiration and some good photos to add to the website - so stay tuned.
