1920's Weissenborn Hawaiian Guitar
This guitar is made completely of Hawaiian Koa wood and is hollow all
the way up through the neck. It was made in the 1920's when Hawaiian
music was booming throughout the United States. Resophonic
instruments such as the National resonators and Dobros replaced these
acoustic instruments with their extra volume. Soon electric
lapsteels were used to play Hawaiian steel guitar.
These instruments have been resurrected by musicians such as David
Lindley, Bob Brozman, and most recently, Ben Harper.
